Abstract

|
One serious potential sequela of cranio-cerebral trauma is the development off the epileptic fits which must have been observed in pre-historic era but the earliest documented reference to the problem is credited by common consent to Hippocrates. From that time a vast amount of literature have accumulated and especially the wars in America, Europe and Korea provided good material for many authors to study of post-traumatic epilepsy.
In this review, owing to those authors we can present a criteria for the diagnosis. Incidence and predisposing factory of post-traumatic epilepsy with reliable standards. And also current status of neurosurgery made us he able to present some aspect of pathophysiology of post-traumatic epilepsy and its medical and neurosurgical treatment.
